Our Story
Founders | 1981
Mid-Atlantic Gymnastics Center was founded in 1981 by Richard Martin and Lynn Perrott with a vision of providing exceptional gymnastics instruction in a positive, encouraging environment.
Richard Martin served as the 1989–1993 USGF State Director of Boys Gymnastics in Maryland and was a co-founder and co-artistic director of the Mu-sawwir Gymnastic Dance Ensemble. His career included performing for athletes at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, guest instructing at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, and helping shape gymnastics throughout Maryland.
Lynn Perrott was a nationally rated gymnastics judge through the Brevet level and co-artistic director of the Mu-sawwir Gymnastic Dance Ensemble. Together, Richard and Lynn built a program centered on quality instruction, personal growth, and a genuine love for the sport—values that continue to define Mid-Atlantic Gymnastics Center today.

Teresa Yannone's journey with Mid-Atlantic Gymnastics Center began in 1992 when she enrolled as a five-year-old student. After progressing through the program, she became an instructor assistant at just 12 years old, learning directly from founders Richard Martin and Lynn Perrott.
Over the years, Teresa developed into a dedicated instructor and coach while attending high school, college, and graduating from Towson University. She has spent decades teaching children from toddlers to teenagers, helping thousands of students build confidence, strength, and a love for gymnastics.
As Program Director, Teresa has continued the founders' mission by creating a welcoming environment where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

Braedon's journey with Mid-Atlantic Gymnastics Center began as a six-year-old student. At 13 years old, he began volunteering alongside his coaches, learning how to teach younger students while developing the leadership skills that would shape his future.
In 2016, Braedon had the privilege of becoming Richard Martin's final hire before Richard stepped away from the gym. Being welcomed into the Mid-Atlantic Gymnastics family by one of its founders is an honor that continues to shape his appreciation for the gym's history and the values it was built upon. Working alongside Program Director Teresa Yannone, Braedon continued to grow as an instructor, manager, and leader while learning from her years of experience and unwavering commitment to the students and families of Mid-Atlantic Gymnastics Center.
In 2023, Braedon became CEO of Mid-Atlantic Gymnastics Center. Today, he and Teresa work together to continue the legacy established by Richard Martin and Lynn Perrott. Together, they are committed to providing exceptional gymnastics instruction, supporting a team of passionate coaches, and creating an environment where every child can build confidence, develop lifelong skills, and feel like part of the Mid-Atlantic Gymnastics family.
